The given recipe is for a gin martini. IMO gin martinis are supposed to taste like something and one should be able to discern the differences in the gin used. Adding stuff to it kind of seems to contradict the use of good gin. Could just be me 🤷‍♂️

So vodka based and if one just wants a drink then that's where dirty martinis and this pickle martini could come into play. If one is using a less than perfect vodka and it tastes like something (technically it's not supposed to but...) then overwhelming that with pickle brine or olive brine, well, if that's your thing.
