But this is the difference between OGL and independent, separately negotiated licenses.


They didn't license the upcoming movie under the OGL; the studio and Hasbro negotiated a separate license agreement.

But small publishers, like Kobold Press or a lot of folks who put out content through DriveThru RPG are affected. They are "too small" for Hasbro to spend attorney-time negotiating separate licenses. That was the original reason for the OGL in the first place: WotC wanted something more than Creative Commons would allow, but didn't want to "waste" time separately negotiating licenses with everyone working out of their garage or their mom's basement.

I don't know enough about the licensing for Stranger Things, Critical Role, or others to comment, though.
