Having not seen it since I was a kid I'm sure I don't remember the bad parts. However I also disagree with completely making it go away.

I think it should be used more of a "Hey this is the kind of stuff that used to be normal. This is not okay. Can you tell me why it's not okay? Let's discuss."
Of course the racists and assholes will continue to ruin even that idea.
