nah, seasoning and treating them right (no long soaking) makes a difference.

usually manufacturers give instructions, but in general a little oil and heating is the way to go. scroll way down at the link here or search on “seasoning” for GH’s rec, just like hard anodized that I like and have kept pans going for years.
