In response to "Look, if I lived in Florida and there were books I wanted my kids to read that were banned by the school library, I would just buy those books from" by rollo

i get it.

i have to make sure there is separation in my ideology and what is practical. i'm too risk averse, in general, to do directly what i ideologically am perfectly okay with happening. that's why i support bail funds and pay into legal fees for activists.

but i also know practically that this would be unpopular, no matter how effective it is. once we all signaled we were perfectly okay with kids being murdered in schools, there was no way to put that back in the box and be outraged at other things that are less than murdering kids (although you can easily argue that these policies will directly result in higher suicide rates for kids). to suddenly start taking action would be jarring for a lot of people, even folks that are sympathetic to what's going on.
