There's something the audience isn't supposed to think about that hurts the film badly.
If Shuri and Namor had come to the same understanding earlier in the film, none of the fighting would have happened.
There's no real reason why they go from "we can't work together" to "we must accept one another" other than that the MCU needs Namor.
So, Shuri repeatedly tries to kill him and nearly succeeds before she decides she shouldn't do that.
I've been rewatching the film all day, and it's a glaring drawback. Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong'o are absolutely impeccable in every scene, and the Ironheart character is tons of fun. Also, the banter between Martin Freeman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus is outstanding. Her still being in love with him (and intensely jealous/horny) creates a fascinating backstory for a character we expect to be evil.
I really like the film, but the Namor stuff is the weakest part by far.
