Random question: what do you do when you travel to all these places? My wife is getting a sabbatical next year and we're considering Europe

but it occurred to me while we were in Iceland that we seem to not really enjoy the "museum-y" type stuff as we kind of ran out of ideas about what to do when in the city but our days across the country were great.
To compare: I can totally see going to Italy (Venice, Rome, Milan, Pompeii, Pisa, etc. etc.) because it seems I can just walk past history while seeing the country. Just curious what kind of traveler you are as we're trying to figure out which country(ies) to go to next year and I don't want to end up picking something we won't enjoy.
