Not an expression I use often, but saying both out loud bald-faced sounds right, bold-faced doesn't.

"Bold-faced" sounds like one of those things that's wrong about a common phrase or expression, but so many people say it wrong for so long it becomes correct.

I think the opposite. Why would a face be bald and why would it have relevance to a lie? I think bold because you are being bold to lie with your face - sycor Feb 21, 12:29
