I sort of file it in a new (for me) genre. Last year I read Tara Westover's Educated, JD Vance's Hillbilly Elegy, and Barack Obama's A Promised Land

Three different people, yet they all came from broken homes and received advanced degrees at Ivy League institutions. The dissonance of their upbringing versus the Ivy League is sort of fascinating to me.
