I'm not naïve enough to suggest that the MSFT deal would be cool for the market, but they've been trying to be platform agnostic for years now.

Nintendo filed a brief in support of Microsoft. Microsoft wants to put Xbox Live on every device (their pivot from "we want all the devices" to "we want to be ON all the devices" has been revolutionary for the company). And it's an argument Sony will lose. Chiefly because they rejected Microsoft's offer to have their games on Sony's PlayStation. Sony can't argue that Microsoft taking over Activision-Blizzard will deny them access to those games when Microsoft LITERALLY OFFERED TO PUT *ALL OF THEIR GAMES* ON THE PLAYSTATION.
