One Hamper/Basket to take dirty clothes to the machines. One Hamper/Basket to take clean clothes back. They should never be mixed up and always separate, because you dont want dirty clothes germs to get on clean clothes.

our hamper is tall, but you want a wider shallow basket for sorting and stacking folded clothes. Fun fact, a laundry basket is one load in a machine -- nm

One basket. But we own several, so there can be multiple loads in progress.
