One thing to keep in mind is that teams couldn't publicly talk about interest in Lamar before he was tagged.

They would still need to "no comment" if the Ravens had used the exclusive tag. So it's possible that some told reporters earlier with the understanding that it wouldn't be reported if they could get in trouble for tampering. Or more likely, as soon as Lamar was tagged the reporters started calling potential teams and asking about their interest.

It's also possible some teams are lying. It's been known to happen, especially around this time of year.
