That's the biggest plot hole with trek, here's a problem, why don't we take this and divert it to that...in RL there are reasons you can't do that

wouldn't people die when you take the power from everything that keeps them alive.

imagine someone says lets take the natural gas pipeline and run into the microwave

I mean to get a spaceship out into space it takes a fvckton of engineering stretching the boundaries of materials and physics and years of study and experimentation, previous designs and progressive prototypes.

yet in the heat of battle a couple guys will decide to do something no one ever ever ever thought of before
