I think what we’re seeing is that there’s a fine line between a great Oscars and a terrible Oscars.

Kimmel’s monologue was 12-13 minutes. So it wasn’t short. But it was (often but not entirely) good.

The audience skits are always terrible and this one ran the risk of tanking the whole show.

The tributes and celebrations are the big time wasters and the lack of that may have been the deciding factor last night.
