The real problem is that the Fed has a very limited toolbox. That’s not Powell’s fault. -- (edited)

Having a coherent political class where half or more of it hasn’t completely abdicated their responsibilities in governance would hypothetically be able to provide much better-suited fiscal policy solutions to these problems than needing to rely on monetary policy* alone, but alas here we are.

*failures in banking supervision by the Fed notwithstanding
