I can't read the article but I read about the fight between the current owners and it seems like one person was holding things up and caused

the sale.

It's going to take $100m or so in renovations, upgrades, etc. to get the building up to modern standards. I don't know what the guy was thinking when he bid on it but hopefully it ends up in the hands of someone that will take good care of the building.
