Being on my condo board is a constant pain, but I do it in part because the challenge of satisfying conflicting requests appeals to me.

Whether it's Allow Dogs vs Don't Allow Dogs or other, it's been a great learning experience, and I want to make sure I've taken on the challenge of sitting in the hot seat before criticizing anyone else for their choices in that role.
I'm tempted to try to get on the county board to prevent these new building going up with next to no sidewalk space. And I'd love to jack up the penalty for cutting down historic trees.
Also it's been important to me to serve in that position to keep any MAGA folks as far away from budget control as possible.
But mostly serving has been my own little Kobiashi Maru test. You can't win in a position where you can't make everyone happy, and oddly I want to face that challenge.
