I'm going back and reading stuff now. Tough to tell what was written when compared to the show. I do like the theory....spoiler

that the opening scene with "pit girl", which you would assume to be a flashback is actually a flashforward or something and isn't actually the group of Yellowjackets.
Like any prequel, there are inevitable issues that I hope are thought out. Like if Javi is alive when they are rescued then why wouldn't he be mentioned in the "present" timeline. I know now everyone would necessarily be brought up, but when Travis is found dead, if Javi is alive then someone would HAVE to say "we need to find Javi."
