It matters because Vince is back in charge.

Sure, HHH is (supposedly) booking things, but Vince has final say. They go back there it will be mostly like before they left.
Also, Dax indicated that they would probably get more money with WWE, but they're happier in AEW. He also seemed to indicate that happiness is more important than money.
