You are right but also wrong. Until charging stations are as ubiquitous as gas stations EV adoption will be very slow to happen -- (edited)

something like 114 million people rent in the US (35% of the population). That 1/3rd of the country can't own an EV until they have easy access to charging stations on a daily basis for en-route traveling.
and that's not even counting the number of people who live in cities in condos and co-ops and/or don't have a driveway/garage to have a home charger
