net metering doesn't exist here anymore. you have to get a meter that measures import/export separately, and there are different prices for

consumption/export. some places here even charge you for exporting to the grid at certain times (trying to incentivise battery storage). the export price for new installations now is down to about 10% of the import cost. I get about 25%.
there are also good enough installation incentives here that almost everyone who owns their home could probably afford rooftop solar.
