It's not confirmed, but it's theorised that the Xiongnu and the Huns were at least connected, and may even be the same people

They're both nomadic tribes from Central Asia that lived by herding and raiding, and one theory is that after the Xiongnu lost a war against the Han dynasty, they went west.
But there were other tribes that basically did the same thing, and no one knows for sure, or even what language the Xiongnu spoke.
