Dealing with plantar fasciitis right now. Stretch the calf muscles. The tendons at the back of the leg connect to the tendons under the foot

The pain is basically those foot tendons tearing at their connection points. They heal overnight when not being used, so if you can get a brace to wear at night that keeps her foot at a 90 degree with her ankle, that will help them heal in the "stretched" position. Good arch support in shoes, which might require specially made orthotics, are a must.
