Spend a year or more on a project. Dot your i's and cross your t's on something no one anywhere has ever done before. Set a goal

Surpass that goal. Hit the first stretch goal. Fail to reach the second stretch goal.

Of course you're going to feel defeated. You worked hard. You though you'd nailed everything down. You were hoping for more than just meeting the initial goal.

Now you pick yourself up and go back to work and learn from what went wrong.

Ask any employee if they're disappointed and they'll say yes. Ask them if they're defeated and they'll say no.
