My friends and I have thought about this a lot. But there is an aspect that there is an entire gay generation missing, which impacts Gen X.

As someone who is gay, there's a very clear generation gap between who is alive and who isn't. AIDS destroyed an entire generation and Gen X didn't have some of those people to look towards.

I know plenty of gay men in their 80s+, and less than 55. I hardly know anyone in between. My friends that are in their 40s/50s always say, they had no role models to know how things worked.
