For me, it depends on the need. I use mine for being alerted for new texts/email/calls/notifications (since my phone is always on silent), and steps.

That link mentions cons being "no always on display" (god that would run through the battery daily), and not being able to control voice assistants.
I don't need any of that - and the watch battery lasts at least 3-4 weeks between charges, so I love it.
And, $35. Can't really beat that.
