I took off an extra day from work so I could drive to my parents during day (roughly 400 miles). Unpacked, had dinner, then drove to San Francisco (about an hour) to get to the show.
Slim's is, er was (it's closed now) tiny at like 400-500 capacity.
The Bronx opened, there was a set break and then Brody was on stage, seemingly just out of reach. Like right there and I was being buffeted by the crowd and the band is playing at this insane level of energy. I was able to move up in the crowd and now Brody is literally looming above me
And everything changed for me as to what I would try to listen to, what a concert could be, making an effort to go to small venues
