I have such a hard time with these, but I'll throw out a few. Bruce 1980 (opening night of The River tour), Bowie's Sound and Vision Tour, The Who

performing Quadrophoenia in 1996(?), The Ramones in a rec room at UIC in 1979. Honestly I could go on a while. But the Bruce show was kind of life altering for me. I'd never seen a show with a performer like him before and command of the stage and crowd (even though it was a show filled with hiccups, it just added to the spontaneity). He opened the show with Born to Run, stepped up to the mic and couldn't remember the lyrics. He had to walk over to Clarence for him to tell him. He decided to do Jungleland even though they hadn't planned to do it (and he read the lyrics from a sheet of paper). Bob Seger joined for the encore and the only song he knew was Thunder Road, so they played it (even though they had played it earlier). Nobody had heard a song off of The River yet (maybe Hungry Heart) and he had complete command of an audience that was hearing music for the first time. When he sang The River and Point Blank everyone was mesmerized. Nobody got up to get another beer or just yelled because they could be heard. It blew my mind.
