For other destinations, especially Vegas, if something breaks on the plane, worst case is the airline can call on resources of another airline. Actually more likely one of the freight companies.
There's no similar support in Alaska for 757s at the moment so building up the support structure to be ready for most things is taking a bit longer
The other thing is that even if there weren't direct resources at a specific airport, there usually someplace relatively nearby. Again not so much the case for Anchorage
