My dad had a lifetime goal to visit every MLB stadium. I believe he followed the same rules I do, with a goal to attend a game at every team’s home stadium, not necessarily to visit every currently used park. I do keep track of the different parks I visit.
When I was growing up, our family took lots of road trips. Living in California, we drove to visit family in the midwest from Minnesota down to Texas. One year, my dad took a 4 month sabbatical. We drove our Toyota Van from California to New Jersey via a Southern route on the way there, and a northern route on the way back. We filled in a lot of parks on that journey. Unfortunately, the Expos were out of town when we passed through Montreal.
I joined my dad in Toronto for his final park. I’m very grateful my mom saved some memorabilia and gave me a framed collection of photos and ticket stubs. My dad had a tradition of asking everyone to guess the attendance. He wrote the names and guesses on his ticket, so he also had documented who was there. Later, he created an email list called “The Sporting Report”, documenting all sorts of events, college and pro.
I still have four teams to go. I’m taking an opportunistic approach - not planning any trips specifically to pick up these parks. Ihave attended games for six teams in two stadia, so my total is 32 stadia.
