I bear a grudge against Just Like Heaven these days for (reasons) but it deserves a place in a number of lists including Best Love Songs, Best Songs of the 80s, and Mop’s Favorite Songs. It was right to choose the 7” single version of Close To Me for this list, as the 12” version may drive people to murder. Conversely, the 12” version of Hot Hot Hot may be superior to its single version, Punishing Why Can’t I Be You because of the video is wrong. The song - as the kids say - slaps. Disintegration and Fascination Street should be higher. Friday I’m in Love should be wiped from this Earth. As heartfelt and emotive as Just Like Heaven is, Friday I’m in Love is equally shallow and superficial and utterly without meaning.
