1 had the emotional weight that brought the team together and why fans got into it. Peter Quill is this dorky, emotional immature kid even as an adult. Gamora is the serious player here that's chilled (less edgy) by Quill's charm. Drax acts as the muscle (Ben Grimm, The Thing) not always the sharpest, that is accepted by the group. Rocket and Groot have some genius mixed with the interest in a mercenary team family.
2 the meetup with Dad is fine. The premise and execution of planting seeds to not be alone seems far fetched. Maybe some of the musical cues and humor doesn't quite hit home as much as 1,3 too.
