colin, to answer your questions (NMB colin)

It's not quite the movie per se, but in a way it is.

You may know my Dad passed away earlier this year. That happened a couple of days (literally) after I watched Decision to Leave.

His passing away was very sudden and surprising, but me and my family comfort ourselves with the idea that he went on his own terms, without going through any protracted fight against his health issues. He hadn't been in a hospital for treatment in years, certainly not in an ICU for more than a decade. So we chose to believe that, yes, he decided to leave when he saw that things could be getting worse with his health and when he saw that the 3 of us (Mom, my Sis, and I) were fine, here for each other for support.

So both the temporal and the thematic closeness make DtL remember a lot of that weekend. But I was gushing about it when I got home that day, and I told him all about it very excitedly. It's probably my second favorite film released in 2022.
