It's not really the problem that people seem to think it is. The majority of our building are on very stable and solid schist.

And where water will rise is going to rise no matter what buildings are there. Battery Park won't be around forever but most of the city is a good bit above sea level. Flooding will be a problem in some areas but we won't disappear under the water.
