IIRC, he signed gun control measures as Governor out there when the black population started exercising their rights to carry weapons.

Reagan wouldn't get elected for so many reasons, gun control is just another reason.
He raised taxes, he was tough on Russia, he allowed immigrants to stick around, and was not a complete gun nut. He'd be a folksy grandpa candidate who would show up on tv after losing.
