I never use an app and i always ignore it when it tries to talk me into using the official one, but they can eat a bag of dicks for this.

Web APIs are one of the few ways that companies haven't fucked everyone over. It's like hanging a shingle and saying you're open for business. Clamping down on integrations is bad behaviour.
Twitter and Reddit and Instagram are trend setters here, and they all need to take a step back and collectively fuck their own faces.
