alright, so I'm going to go against the prevailing wisdom here, and say that the latest potter was brilliant.. (spoilers)

first and foremost, because it nailed the book's concept, as I envisioned it. everything about it except for harry/ron/hermione's dress was perfect wartime england. costume, architecture, lighting, background objects, even characters' attitudes was perfect. destroying the burrow and the millennium bridge I thought was especially evocative of london during the blitz. I also particularly liked how the tom riddle flashbacks managed to seem both more archaic, yet effectively unchanged from the present wizarding world. the scene of harry/dumbledore in the press scrum at the very start was also perfect archaic/magical tech.
that and I also saw it in a theatre full of harry potter nerds, and smuggled in a few flasks and played a good harry potter drinking game (every time someone speakz latin, take a drink. man, is there ever a lot of latin in that movie).

I believe that what most people disliked about the film is that it glossed over some of the more heavy elements.

Granted, I've only been paying the slightest attention to TT reviews, but I got the impression that the latest HP was well liked by TT.
