The problem is that it is too anthropomorphized, so people are lulled into a sense of something that fundamentally isn't there.

It is a bullshit generator. Its sole ability is to generate plausible-sounding responses to the input. The anthropomorphizing means that if you think to ask it to fact-check something or constrain itself to some rules, it's not considering them as you've defined them. It's always just weighing the generated bullshit against the input to craft a plausible-sounding response.
