It would have to be built with the same specs as the sub itself. So you're basically carrying a double sub.

and any tracking could be from the things that are on the sub itself if that is possible (which generally it is not, that deep). The flaws are with the inherently unsafe nature of the voyage, not of failing to plan for redundancy.
