I'm joking.
But the main and most important way they differ: John Kelly of the book, when confronted with injustice, falls back to being his true self. He is, at his base, an unrelenting, unforgiving, unstoppable force of nature. John Kelly of the film is just Generic Slighted Soldier Guy.
Yet, I'd still watch Rainbow Six with MBJ as Six.
