Here a trick. Create a new layer, change de the blending mode to "Color Burn" (in the layer window, it should say "Normal" right now at the top)

Scratch that, paint with light gray. You may get some weird pixelization it you go too dark, then bring the opacity of the layer down until it's gone -- nm
