oh ... it correlates with vehicle size over the years. When Carter was in office people were getting small economy cars. -- nm

i think there are probably a lot of factors. vehicle size for one. cops not enforcing traffic laws in cities with a lot of pedestrians likely another -- nm

Yes, cops use traffic stops to look for drugs and guns (and primarily using bigoted profiling) instead of enforcing safe driving laws -- nm
