Fun fact: I once helped “move” some Chagall paintings across the French border.

Friend’s grandmother was apparently Chagall’s mistress, and died suddenly and unexpectedly without a will. His dad was her only child, so would have inherited the paintings, but couldn’t afford (or just didn’t want to pay) the inheritance taxes, so we drove over from Switzerland and relocated some things before the French government got involved.
