Weirdly, one movie doesn’t matter.

Streaming services want subscribers because subscribers equals money. Only a critical mass of content will spur subscriptions. Once in a while there’s a smash hit that’s enough to convince people to subscribe.- maybe it’s Wednesday for Netflix or Poker Face for Peacock - but long term, streamers have to produce that critical mass that convinces people, “You know what..? If I sign up to that service, I’ll get enough content to keep me watching for months.” Basically, spend money to make money. When streamers stop producing original content, or pull content, or license content to other streamers, it makes that streamer less appealing. I’m sure there’s math involved, but also a good amount of guess work.
