It’s why I don’t get the hype about the MLB draft. It’s not like the NFL or NBA where one guy immediately turns a team around.

The top picks are at least two years out, usually more.

I'd even argue that the one guy thing works only in the NBA due to the many moving parts of a NFL team -- nm

Even there it's just the top 3-5 guys. After that there's no guarantee that the guy will actually be good enough to contribute in the next year. -- nm
