When they stopped being the best athletes in the pool.

There’s a reason you’ll see high schools have guys who star in football / basketball / baseball. It’s a small pond.

They go to college, it’s a big pond where few are among the best talents at more than 1 sport.

And a fair bit of that best talent is overlapped skills like Todd Helton who was a QB for UT so a baseball pitcher…similar skill set. And he topped out as a viable pitcher in SEC baseball.

The talent necessary to be that good is incredibly thin when the pool is legitimately every male between 18 and 43 worldwide.
