Why? The last great Indy movie came out in 1989.

The box office law is that the most recent film’s quality determines the box office of its successor. And that was Crystal Skull. We have multiple generations of movie goers who aren’t Indy fans.
This was a gift to longtime fans. Its box office fate was always in question.
