and since permadeath ride on their own server I can't even help you out.
Your best bet is to record the coordinates for the last planets right before the galaxy jumps. Then if you have to start a new save just make getting to a portal your #1 priority and then you can hop right to that planet and be 1 warp away from the next galaxy. Rinse and repeat.
