In response to "Are Jonah Hill’s texts really “therapy speak”? We asked an actual therapist. -- (edited)" by znufrii 🦄

good quote:therapy rarely focuses on the behaviour of another person, but rather how that behaviour might have made you feel, and why.

that for me has been big - i cannot change people's behavior, control them, or really do anything but protect myself from their behavior if it's damaging and express myself so they have a choice in how they proceed.

i can sort of change myself, but it's not that simple - being able to understand why i do things and just being able to identify the feelings i have (sometimes very hard)

therapy is not a cudgel to use on other people, it's a tool to help you.
