Let me run an idea past y'all ...

I want to redesign the homepage of my photo site (kevinboyd.ca) to be keyed directly toward photo sales.
When people load it, the first thing I want them to see is a group of categories with a featured image for each subject.
Because I'm me, I'm thinking "I need at least six categories, and inside each category I need at least ten images for sale".
But because I'm trying to grow beyond my instincts, which have proven to be unsuccessful in this endeavour, I'm thinking that's the wrong quantities.
Or is the category idea wrong? I dunno.
So now I'm thinking I should have four categories:
The Land
The Sea
The Animal Kingdom
and ...
The Fun Times
And inside each one, only five or six photos offered for sale.
Thoughts?

You are on the right track. “ fun times “ is not quite right

I like the category idea. I would have thought 500 to 1000 photos per category would increase the chances of a sale. -- nm

Avoid choice paralysis by the consumer. Between 4 and 6 is right. Be aware that some photos may show up in multiple categories.
